A 30-story condominium in North Miami Beach, Florida, suffered slow drain and clog issues in laundry rooms on each floor. The owners needed a solution quickly.

So they called Gregg D’Attile, owner of Art Plumbing AC & Electric in nearby Coral Springs.

Serving the Ft. Lauderdale-Miami area, Art Plumbing AC & Electric forged an excellent reputation for superior plumbing, drain cleaning, air conditioning and electrical services to local residential and light commercial customers since 1983. The company’s 48 trucks tackle troubles within a 50-mile radius of their headquarters.

“We practice prompt, professional response — and the finest service,” D’Attile says. “That’s why our name remains synonymous with quality in southeast Florida.”

With the convenience of building owners and occupants at stake, D’Attile knew that his company had to do the job quickly – “with no muss, no fuss.”

The right tool for the job

His team took their Model JM-1450 electric water jet from General Pipe Cleaners to the site.

Part of General’s popular Jet-Set line of water jets, the JM-1450 uses high-pressure water to clear conduits clogged with grease, sand, sludge and ice.

Perfect for smaller, indoor jobs with 1 1/2- to 4-inch lines, the compact, portable, environmentally friendly machine generates 1,500 psi at 1.7 gpm yet only pulls 13 amps.

“That was important,” D’Attile says. “We didn’t want to blow any circuits.”

Also equipped with Vibra-Pulse technology and General’s standard safety features, the rugged JM-1450 is powered by a 1 1/2 hp dual capacitor enclosed motor with an in-line ground fault circuit interrupter.

Vibra-Pulse helps the hose slide around tight bends and farther down lines. It breaks the initial tension between the hose surface and pipe walls, increasing cleaning power. And it separates General’s Jet-Set from competitive machines and ordinary pressure washers.

JM-1450 portability proved helpful, too. D’Attile notes that larger, heavier jetters would prove troublesome to transport up a 30 story building and difficult to maneuver in tight work areas.

Not so with General’s machine.

Overall JM-1450 height is just 29 inches. Remove the easily detachable, 150-feet-capacity hose reel with brake and height drops to just 14 inches. The JM-1450 also sports a heavy-duty frame with two 8-inch semipneumatic tires. And it features a slide-out handle to facilitate transporting.

The JM-1450's design and performance gave D’Attile the reliability, portability and power to handle the whole job with minimal disruption to building occupants.

Starting from the top story, the drain cleaning professionals rapidly and methodically moved floor to floor through each of the building’s laundry rooms.

“We ran the JM-1450 hose from the floor drain 12 feet to the stack, then 10 feet more to the floor below,” D’Attile recalls, “and then cleanly repeated the process.”

The whole tedious task took less than three days. And the skill and professionalism of Art Plumbing AC & Electric’s crew earned D’Attile a yearly preventive maintenance contract from condominium owners.

Gregg D’Attile loves the JM-1450. “From the design to the electronics to the compact size, everything is included in the price.”
