Rehab/Relining + Get AlertsFounded in 1898, the American Society for Testing Materials is one of the global bodies overseeing the development of tens of thousands of “voluntary consensus standards … to improve product quality, enhance health and safety, strengthen market access and trade, and build consumer confidence.” Pipeline Renewal Technologies has committed to upholding these values to benefit the pipeline rehabilitation industry through its compliance with recognized standards for its products.
The Quick-Lock point repair sleeve is a rapid pipe rehabilitation solution for sewer maintenance. It complies with the ASTM F3110-14, entitled Standard Practice for Proper Use of Mechanical Trenchless Point Repair Sleeve with Locking Gear Mechanism for Pipes of Varying Inner Diameter and Offset Joints. This standard specifies the scope of application for products like Quick-Lock. ASTM F3110-14 also provides guidelines on the proper installation of this trenchless rehab method, against which Quick-Lock’s compliance with NSF/ANSI 61/372 (the certification for use in potable water) can be confirmed. Following standards set out by these organizations safeguards both businesses and consumers. Despite Quick-Lock’s simplicity, it requires careful implementation, and ASTM F3110-14 offers credible installation recommendations.
With any sewer work, safety precautions must be taken and installing Quick-Lock is no exception. Evaluation of the section of damaged pipe must be conducted and deemed acceptable for entry as per local, state and federal safety regulations. Once it is determined that Quick-Lock is an appropriate solution, the sleeve is mounted on the balloon packer and positioned with the help of a crawler, and then expanded pneumatically. The pressurization process must be carefully monitored and should follow the recommended pressures provided in the appendices of ASTM F3110-14. When proper precautions are followed however, this point repair sleeve is certainly one of the easier methods of pipe rehabilitation.
Quick-Lock mechanical point repair is one of many trenchless rehab methods, and a fit for pipe ranging in diameter from 6 to 32 inches, with certain lengths available in each diameter. It efficiently provides structural support with its heavy-gauge 316L stainless steel sleeve and abates infiltration with an EPDM rubber gasket. The system is chemically resistant against sewage, thinned acids, lye, and aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Quick-Lock installs in minutes. Due to the absence of chemicals and resins, there is no cure time, and it can be installed with flow present. Interested in getting a demo of Quick-Lock? Click here.
