The Potomac River watershed covers the District of Columbia and parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded two grants totaling $2.7 million to the Water Environment and Reuse Foundation of Alexandria, Virginia, for water research projects that will benefit communities nationwide and in the Potomac watershed.
