BioMax media from ABS Materials is an inert, biocompatible enhancement for bioswales, storm filters, permeable pavements and other green infrastructure systems. It improves the performance of natural and manufactured stormwater systems by capturing and breaking down harmful runoff contaminants. Infused with zero-valent iron, the media not only captures organic pollutants, it breaks them down into harmless compounds that are easily absorbed and used by plants for vigorous growth. It has adsorption capacity for metals, including copper, lead and zinc. The media can be coated onto aggregate or trap rock, or be spread into the bedding layer. Its use doesn’t require any changes to typical installation practices. It can be added to upflow filters to increase capture and treatment of common runoff contaminants. 330/234-7999; www.absmaterials.com.
